Immanuel Lutheran College will tomorrow acknowledge two outstanding musicians when the annual Kerry-Anne McDavitt Music Award and Rick Farbach Jazz Scholarship are presented at an awards ceremony at the College.

Year 11 student and percussionist Matthew Ford will receive the 2009 Kerry-Anne McDavitt Music Award and Year 12 student Zac Ansley will receive the 2009 Rick Farbach Jazz Scholarship.

The Kerry-Anne McDavitt Music Award is presented each year to a Year 11 Immanuel student who has displayed outstanding qualities in the areas of leadership, commitment and dedication to music.

The Rick Farbach Jazz Scholarship is sponsored by the Noosa Federation of the Arts and is presented each year to a Year 12 Immanuel student who has displayed excellence, leadership and commitment to music and intends to pursue music beyond their time at Immanuel. This year’s winner, vocalist Zac Ansley, will pursue post-secondary studies in music and hopes to become a professional performer.

“Immanuel’s music program nurtures each of our students’ unique musical abilities. We are privileged to have many outstanding student performers as well as a dedicated group of superb music teachers. These awards are one of many highlights in the Immanuel music calendar and comes on the eve of our annual Twilight Concert, where we showcase over 120 of our young musicians,” said Principal David Bliss.
